Class action suit filed in Mississippi spill case
The first class action lawsuit has been filed following the spill that has closed the Lower Mississippi River.
Stephen Marshall Gabarick and Bernard Atridge filed suit yesterday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana on behalf of themselves "and all others similarly situated"--all residents and inhabitants of New Orleans who have suffered damages and/or losses from the collision of the M/V TINTORAMA with BARGE DM932 on July 23, 2008.
The suit names as defendants Laurin Maritime (America) Inc., Whitefin Shipping Co. Ltd., DRD Towing Company LLC, American Commercial Lines, Inc. and the New Orleans Baton Rouge Steamship Pilots Association.
