Guido Perla & Associates gets AHL tanker contract
Seattle based naval architecture firm Guido Perla & Associates, Inc. (GPA) has been awarded a contract to provide production engineering, including a 3-D product model for lofting, piping, HVAC and electrical systems for the deckhouse of a 338,000 bbl double-hull Jones Act chemical product tanker for Jamestown Metal Marine Sales of Boca Raton, Fla.
Jamestown Metal Marine Sales is one of three shipbuilders involved in building a series of three tankers for operation by AHL Shipping Company.
Jamestown Metal Marine is supplying complete deckhouses and casings for the ships.
The production engineering phase for the deckhouse will begin immediately and is scheduled to be completed at the end of June 2008.
Construction of the series commenced with steel cutting ceremonies on February 11 at R&R Shipbuilding, Inc. (R&R) in Port Arthur, Texas, and Atlantic Marine, Alabama, is set to begin construction of hull modules on February 18, 2008.
