Swan Hunter machinery and equipment to be shipped to India?
Indian press reports say that India's Bharati Shipyard has acquired Britain's Swan Hunter shipbuilding for an undisclosed amount.
Bharati Shipyard says that as a matter of company policy it does not "react on market speculation."
Be that as it may, Bharati--India's second-largest private shipbuilder--is embarked on ambitious expansion plans at its existing Ratnagiri yard and is developing a greenfield shipyard site in Mangalore.
The Indian reports say that Bharati will dismantle the entire machinery and equipment outfit at Swan Hunter and ship it to India over six months for reassembly at Bharati's shipyards. The deal also reportedly includes Swan Hunter's 20,000 ton lift capacity floating dry dock.
