Yantai Raffles appoints rig builder as CEO

Brian Chang, Chairman of Yantai Raffles Shipyard Pte Ltd., China, has given up the CEO title. The yard has appointed veteran rig builder Yong-Jin Cho as Chief Executive Officer, with effect from June 1,2006.

Yantai Raffles says that Cho brings with him 24 years of experience in design, production and project management of offshore projects, covering FPSO, FPU, Drilling Rigs, Power Barges, etc. During this period, he had worked with BP, Shell, Exxon-Mobil, ONGC, Smedvig, Chevron, SanteFe, Sonat, etc.

Yantai Raffles says it has some of the largest facilities for building jack-up and semisubmersible drilling rigs and is currently constructing the world's largest crane at 20,000 metric tonnes.

This crane will be used to mate the deck boxes to pontoons and columns of several semi-submersibles currently contracted.
