January 19, 2006 QM2 sails again
The Queen Mary 2 left Port Everglades this morning after returning to port when one of its propulsion pods apparently struck an underwater obstruction Tuesday afternoon. An underwater examination confirmed damage to one of the ship's four pods. However, the ship--the largest cruise liner currently in service--can operate safely on three of the units and it has resumed a 38 day voyage around South America that is scheduled to end in Los Angeles on February 22. |
