Ezra orders offshore crane barge

Singapore's Ezra Holdings Limited ("Ezra") says its wholly-owned subsidiary, Lewek Shipping Pte Ltd, has awarded a contract to Labroy Shipbuilding Offshore Ltd for the building of a 300-ft accommodation work & crane barge at a contractual value of US$8.85 million, excluding the cost of certain owner furnished equipment.

The barge will be equipped with a heavy lift pedestal crane and helideck suitable for landing of a Sikorsky (or equivalent) helicopter and will also be able to accommodate 300 workmen.

The barge will augment the offshore construction division of the Ezra Group comprising the heavy lift crane barge "Lewek Conqueror," a 142-m DP2 heavy lift 360-men accommodation pipelay vessel, complemented by Ezra's fabrication, logistics and training base in Vietnam.

The barge is scheduled to be delivered in January/February 2007. T\

"This order enhances our already wide and integrated capability in the offshore oil & gas support services sector. We are now able to tap an even greater share of the demand we are experiencing from the increasing number of discoveries in oil and gas worldwide, particularly in Asia, our own backyard. With these discoveries willcome significant demand for infrastructure. Construction and pre-fabrication work on such infrastructure can be undertaken in our Vietnamese base, then transported and assembled on-site by our vessels." said Mr Lionel Lee, Ezra's Managing Director.
