 January 19, 2005 AIDAcara to be modernized Carnival Corporation's German market unit, AIDA Cruises has awarded Neptun Stahlbau GmbH, Rostock, Germany, a Euros 2.5 million ($3.25 million) order for repairs and modernization of the 1996-built AIDAcara. The modernization includes fitting 44 cabins with balconies and enlarging the restaurant. In addition, the bridge wings will be fitted with 1.8 m extensions to improve visibilityduring berthing maneuvers. The Rostock yard is a sister company of Meyer Werft, Papenburg, which has a Euros 630 million contract for AIDA's next two newbuildings. .
