November 29, 2005 Aker firms up Viking Line order Aker Yards and Viking Line Abp have now confirmed a firm contract, worth approximately Euros 120-130 milllion euro. ($140-152 million), for a fast passenger/car ferry. This follows the signing of a letter of intent on November 21. The contract includes options for two similar vessels. The vessel intended for the Helsinki-Tallinn route will be 185 m long and 27.7 m wide, carring 2,500 passengers. The vessel will reach a speed of 25 knots powered by a 40 MW engine installation. Aker plans to build the vessel at its Helsinki, Finland, yard.
