More containership orders for Aker Ostsee
Aker Yards has been awarded contracts to build four container vessels for Koenig & Cie. GmbH und Co. KG, Hamburg. They will be bult at the Aker Ostsee yards in Germany.
The vessels are of the newly developed Aker CS 1700 type, with a length of 182 m, beam of 25.2m and deadweight of 24,200 t. Container capacity is 1,706 TEU with 300 FEU reefer slots. The total contract value is approximately EUR 120 million and deliveries are scheduled for the second and fourth quarters of 2007 and the first quarter of 2008.
These orders bring the backlog at Aker Ostsee to 41 vessels, the the largest order reserve in its history. This year alone, Aker Ostsee has thus far booked orders for 23 vessels with a total contract value of approximately EUR 790 million.
