Cuba to be partner in new Venezuelan naval repair yard
Ties between the governments of Cuba's Fidel Castro and Venezuela's Hugo Chavez continue to grow closer.
Yesterday, Venezuela's Ministry of Infrastructure announced plans for the two countries to build a naval repair yard in the state of Zulia, Venezuela, that would also undertake construction of small naval vessels.

The same statement also says the two countries have reached a bilateral accord on maritime transportation.
Presumably, this reciprocates two recent Cuban resolutions lifting current taxes on profits by enterprises which own or possess ships flying the Venezuelan flag that transport cargo or passengers in Cuban national waters; they also exempt ships with the Venezuelan flag from paying tonnage tariffs at Cuban harbors.
