CBO assesses Navy shipbuilding plan
The Navy plan for a 313 ship fleet by 2020 isn't even official yet, but already it has been the subject of a Congressional Budget Office study.
The CBO made the study at the request of Rep. Roscoe Bartlett, Chairman of the HASC's Projection Forces Subcommittee,
Whereas press reports put the annual cost of the Navy's plan at $13 billion a year, the CBO study puts it at substantially more--$19.8 billion a year in 2007 dollars, or $20.8 billion if refuelings of nuclear ships are included
