Hijacked ship seized, after three years
Malaysia's Bernama.com reports that Malaysian marine police have detained a Belize-registered merchant ship and arrested 20 Chinese crew including the captain on suspicion that the vessel is, in fact, MV Natris reportedly hijacked and missing for three years.
Bernama says the 567-tonne vessel "MV Paulijing" was stopped at 3.20 am in an operation involving the special operations force about 9 nautical miles off Kukup, Pontian.
Police believe the MV Paulijing, is the Panama-registered MV Natris which went missing in Batam waters, Indonesia on Nov 17, 2002 after reportedly being hijacked. The owners of the Natris have been contacted to identify the vessel with the help of forensics.
