Fincantieri to build ice class cruise ferries for Tallink
Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri and Estonian ferry operator Tallink have reached an agreement to build two new generation, high performance, ice-class cruise ferries, one of which is an option.
The ships’ main features are: 36,000 gross tonnes, 2,000 passengers, 200 cabins, a speed of 29 knots, loading capacity of 2,000 lane meters.
Giuseppe Bono, Chief Executive Officer of Fincantieri, hailed the agreement as “ a great commercial success for us in a high profile, competitive market, North Europe, which will enable us to add a prestige brand name to our customer portfolio, whilst at the same time strengthening our position as world leader in the field of large ferries."
