Kleven adds to orderbook

Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway has signed a contract for delivery of its third vessel to Norwegian owner Rem Maritime. Valued at around NOK 230 million (US$35.9 million), it is for a MarinTeknikk designed MT6016 Multi Purpose Supply Vessel (MPSV) for delivery in September 2006.

Rem Maritime already has one MT 6016 on order at Kleven for delivery in May 2006 and an 85.65 m MarinTekknik MT 6000 Mk II on order for January 2006 delivery.

The MT 6016 is 92.95 m long with a breadth of 19.70 m, and features extensive cargo capacity in tanks and a cargo deck space of 1,050 sq.m. The ship will be equipped with a fully integrated diesel electric propulsion system and prepared for operation in arctic regions.

"The ability to target the subsea market built into this design, makes it a well suited vessel to contract at this point in time. In addition it has a number of features making it well suited for sophisticated logistics services for offshore installations", owner Age Remoy says, adding: "We are also pleased that Norwegian yards are competitive, enabling us to build locally."
