Comptroller to probe Rochester ferry funding

Responding to a request by New York State Assembleymen Brian M. Kolb and Joseph A. Errigo, the New York State Comptroller's office will audit the expenditure of New York State funds on the Rochester fast ferry project.

In a letter to the two assembleymen dated yesterday, Assistant Comptroller Steven J. Hancox says: "we will engage in an audit in the near future to determine whether all public funds dedicated to this project were expended ppropriately, and that appropriate safeguards were in place to protect the public's interest in this project. We intend to work closely with the Attorney General's office on this review.
