Kleven gets MPSV order
Kleven Verft, Ulsteinvik, Norway has signed a new contract with Norwegian owner Rem Offshore for delivery of an offshore Multi Purpose Supply Vessel (MPSV). The vessel is a Marin Teknikk MT 6016 design, developed in close cooperation between the owner and the yard. The contract value is around NOK 230 million. The vessel is 92.95 m long with a breadth of 19.70 m, and features extensive cargo capacity in tanks and a cargo deck space of 1,050 sq.m. The vessel is due for delivery in May 2006. Rem offshore already has an MT 6000 MK II under construction at Kleven Verft for delivery in January 2006, as well as a UT 755 at another yard. At Kleven we are very pleased to have secured this contract, our second offshore service vessel for Rem Offshore. This emphasizes the strong relation between our two companies", says Kleven Verft Managing Director Stale Rasmussen at Kleven Verft. "The vessel has a diesel electric propulsion system which gives large benefits in fuel economy. In addition it has built-in a number of facilities making it well suited for sophisticated logistics services for offshore installations", owner AAge Remoy says, adding: "We are also pleased that Norwegian yards are competitive, enabling us to build locally".
