DSME Russian shipbuilding JV books $800 million order

Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering says that Russia's Sovcomflot has placed an order worth US$800 million with Zvezda-DSME, the new joint venture shipyard being developed by DSME and United Shipbuilding Corporation in Vladivostok.

The order calls for the joint venture companies to deliver 12 shallow draft Aframax tankers by 2014.

The Vladivostock yard is scheduled to be completed by 2012.
