How "Jones Act harming clean-up" story got legs
That "Jones Act hampering the clean-up" debate looks to have gotten started with BP refusing to hire a bunch of foreign skimmer vessels for which it could see no use. The Dallas investment banker trying to push the boats on BP then went bleating to local pols about the iniquities of the Jones Act. The rest, as they say, is history with long-time Jones Act foes such as John McCain and the Heritage Foundation leaping on the band wagon.
