Whitworth named Washington Marine Group CEO

Jonathan Whitworth has been appointed CEO of Vancouver, B.C., based Washington Marine Group.

Mr. Whitworth was formerly President and CEO of OSG America L.P. and a Senior VP of OSG, Inc. He joined OSG as part of its November 2006 acquisition of Maritrans, where he was CEO and President.

After graduating from the Texas Maritime Academy, Mr. Whitworth sailed for six years as an officer aboard tankers and chemical carriers in the international market. He also still holds an unlimited chief mate's license, and a 1600- ton captain's license. After completing his MBA at the University of North Texas, he came ashore and held a number of management positions at ExxonMobil and Teekay Shipping before joining Maritrans.

As CEO of the Washington Marine Group, Jonathan is primarily responsible for carrying out the strategic plans and policies as established by the Board of Directors. This includes developing and implementing high-level strategies, making major corporate decisions, managing the overall operations and resources of the Washington Marine Group companies, and acting as the main point of communication between the board of directors and corporate operations.

Washington Marine Group companies include Seaspan International Ltd. and Seaspan Coastal Intermodal Company (but not containership operator Seaspan Corporation) and three ship repair yards--Vancouver Drydock, Vancouver Shipyards and Victoria Shipyards.
