NY Waterway promotes Warren
NY Waterway Director of Ferry Operations Alan Warren, who supervised the rescue of 143 people from US Airways Flight 1549 on January 15, 2009, , has been promoted to Vice President for Operations of NY Waterway, Founder & CEO Arthur E. Imperatore announced today.
Warren, 36, joined NY Waterway as a ferry captain in 1998 and was involved in NY Waterway's evacuation of 160,000 people from Manhattan on 9/11. He was promoted to Port Captain, a supervisory role, and then Director of Ferry Operations in 2006.
During the Miracle on the Hudson, Warren coordinated the response of 14 NY Waterway ferry crews who pulled 143 people from the icy waters of the Hudson River within minutes of the crash landing.
"We are very proud of our people for their actions that day," Mr. Imperatore said. "And Alan is the coach who made sure the team was ready when needed. He helps make sure our crews have the training and the dedication to get the job done."
