March 5, 2009 Marad readies port grant criteriaThe American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) provides the Secretary of Transportation with $1.5 billion in discretionary funds for capital investments in surface transportation infrastructure. The Secretary is required to award the funds on a competitive basis. Eligibility for these funds includes port infrastructure investments and projects that connect ports to other modes of transportation while improving the efficiency of freight movement. The Maritime Administration is working with the Office of the Secretary and other Department of Transportation Agencies to develop selection criteria for this discretionary grant program. It anticipates that a complete package for this program will be available in the next 30-- 60 days. As soon as the package is available to the public we will provide you with the necessary grant submission information. When information becomes available concerning submission of applications for discretionary grants under the ARRA it will be post it on the Maritime Administration website, HERE
