DSME books barge order
In January this year, the world's third largest shipbuilder, Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, said it expected its 2009 sales to reach nearly $10 billion.
It has a long way to go.
It has won its first newbuilding order of the year. And it's a far cry from the orders for LNG carriers, drillships and VLCC's that the shipbuilding giant was booking in the boom years. Worth $45 million, it is for two 180 m x 46 m barges for Heerema Marine Contractors.
