Bollinger to build CPB's for Yemen
Though Bollinger Shipyards recently celebrated completion of the 87-foot Marine Protector-class Coastal Patrol Boat (CPB) project for the U.S. Coast Guard, it seems that the Coast Guard is set to purchase two more of the versatile vessels--for use by the Yemeni Coast Guard.
In a posting on the Federal Business Opportunities website the Coast Guard says it intends to purchase up to two Protector Class Coastal Patrol Boats from Bollinger. It notes that "specifications, plans or drawings relating to this procurement are not available and cannot be provided by the Government" as the "information is proprietary to Bollinger Shipyards Lockport, L.L.C."
"The two Protector Class Coastal Patrol Boats will provide coastal Maritime Security support to the country of Yemen," says the posting, which notes that "the existing Marine Protector design and configuration provides the best solution to meet the coastal maritime operational requirements of Yemen. Two Protector Class 87 Foot Coastal Patrol Boats will be purchased. No substitutes shall be considered."
