Feb 7, 2009 Mississippi to get shipbuilding academyJackson County, Mississippi, is to get a Shipbuilding and Metal Trades Academy. Governor Haley Barber made the announcement at a Gulf State Shipbuilding Consortium conference in Mobile on Friday. He said that $20 million requested for the project by the Jackson County Board of Supervisors would be Katrina recovery funding that would come to the county from the federal government via the Mississippi Development Authority.
