Jumbo Shipping discharges its longest load yet
Jumbo Shipping's HLV Fairpartner has successfully discharged the longest load in Jumbo's 41-year history of Heavy Lift Shipping.
At the end of October, two tanker barges were loaded on board in Nantong, China. One of the barges, weighing over 1,330 tonnes, had a record length of 135 m, making it the longest piece of cargo ever lifted by a Jumbo Heavy Lift vessel.
The combination of length, weight and discharging method produced a record lift: the 1,300 tonne load was lifted over portside at an outreach of 31 m.
The second barge had only slightly smaller dimensions: 1,100 tonnes and a length of 130 m. After being stacked on top of each other, the ships' crew safely lashed and secured them before starting their long journey to Rotterdam, The Netherlands, via the Cape of Good Hope.
On arrival, the Fairpartner's twin 900 tonne mastcranes easily lifted the barges from each other and the deck. One after the other they were discharged into the water, concluding a record delivery safely and on time.
