USCG approves Columbia Coastal VSP
U.S. East Coast container-on-barge operator Columbia Coastal Transpor says its Vessel Security Plan has been approved by the U.S. Coast Guard-- well in advance of the July 1, 2004 deadline. The approval remains valid for five years.
"Columbia Coastal is among the first companies to date that have had their Vessel Security Plans approved by the U.S. Coast Guard," said Bruce Fenimore, president of Columbia Coastal. "This indicates not only our commitment to serve our customers without interruption, but also to the ports and terminals that we call on a regular basis. As a US-flag operator, our commitment to security is paramount, and this early approval shows that we take that commitment seriously."
Based in Liberty Corner, N.J, Columbia Coastal Transport operates 11 U.S.-flag container barges in regularly scheduled feeder service operations to and from ports on the U.S. Atlantic coast, plus Freeport Bahamas. Columbia Coastal also operates an Albany Expressbarge(SM) service with two weekly sailings between the Port of NY/NJ and Albany, NY. Complete project cargo and government/military cargo services are also offered.
