Fears of ISPS tanker shutdown fade
About 45 percent of ships entering U.S. ports now have International Ship Security Certificates Rear Adm. Larry Hereth, the Coast Guard's director of port security said yesterday after testifying before a hearing of the House Coast guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee.
But, "people are exponentially now getting into compliance," Hereth is reported as saying. He also praised the petrochemical industry for doing a "fine job" in adopting new security measures and putting them in place and said he didn't expect oil supply to be disrupted by the July 1 ISPS deadline.
