Navy contract for Detyens

Detyens Shipyards, North Charleston, S.C., is being awarded a $10,505,302 firm-fixed-price contract for a 90-day regular overhaul and drydocking of fast combat support ship USNS Arctic (T-AOE 8). The critical drydock work includes overhaul of the rudders and repairs to the main propulsion shafting. The critical topside work includes modification of the cargo fuel oil and jet fuel overflows. This contract includes options, which if exercised, would bring the total cumulative value of this contract to $13,090,471. Work will be performed in North Charleston, S.C., and is expected to be completed by June 2004. Contract funds will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured, with five proposals solicited and three offers received. The U.S. Navy's Military Sealift Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N62381-04-C-2002).
