Seafarers missing after tsunami capsizes bulker
Victims of the tsunami disaster include 19 seafarers missing since December 26 when Samudera Shipping's single cement carrier, the 100 m long, 1997-built Indonesian-registered Sinar Andelas, capsized in the port of Lhok Nga, Aceh, Indonesia, when carrying out cargo activities.
The vessel is equipped with pneumatic loading and discharging capabilities.that, according to Samudera, allow it to be deployed for cement distribution to areas where port facilities are not well developed.
In a Singapore Stock Exchange release issued yesterday, Samudera said only four crew members were rescued and that it had sent an emergency team to Lhok Nga.
