Navy awards destroyer contracts Northrop Grumman Ship System, Pascagoula, Miss., is being awarded a $1,968,269,674 multiyear fixed-price-incentive contract for the fiscal year 2002-fiscal year 2005 construction of four DDG 51 Class Aegis destroyers. NGSS' four multiyear ships are distributed as follows: quantity one in fiscal year 2002, one in fiscal year 2003, one in fiscal year 2004 and one in fiscal year 2005. Work will be performed in Pascagoula, Miss. Each contract provides for the construction of DDG-51 Class Aegis destroyers and associated provisioning technical documentation, technical manuals and associated technical data. The contracts also provide for associated supplies and services consisting of post-delivery availability, special studies, on-board spares and repair parts, equipage, special tools, support and test equipment, production support and industrial services, installation and check-out spares, detail design correction, shore-based spares, messing and berthing for pre-commissioning crews, continuous acquisition and life-cycle support, class crew indoctrination and orientation program and associated data. Contract funds for both contracts will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract awards were based on limited competition, with two proposals solicited and two offers received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (BIW -N00024-02-R-2303, Mod P00001, and NGSS - N00024-02-C-2304). |
