May 4, 2002 Germany warns of passenger ship threat Germany's Federal Criminal Investigation Office, the BKA, yesterday issued a notice that it had received information about planned passenger ship hijackings in European waters by "terrorists with an Islamic background." It said the information also mentioned the possibility of suicide bomber attacks. The BKA said it had no specifics on places or shipping lines threatened. It also said it and other agencies had "substantial doubts" about the reliability of the information. Nonetheless, German police services and overseas intelligence agencies had been contacted.
