Cruise line buys X-ray screeners
Rapiscan Security Products, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of OSI Systems, Inc, says that a leading international cruise line has purchased X-ray cargo screeners fromit for approximately $1 million. Rapiscan expects to deliver the systems by September 30, 2002.

The units purchased are 500 Series Advanced Imaging Systems, including the 519 and 526 models. The customer intends to use the systems both for scanning the carry-on luggage of embarking passengers, as well as for screening checked baggage.

"This purchase represents our first major win with a cruise line operator," commented Ajay Mehra, OSI Systems' CFO and President of OSI Security Group. "Our products are finding their way into more and more applications as security has become an area of concern for all responsible businesses, especially those involved with travel."

The Rapiscan Model 519 tabletop x-ray is a full featured, compact system providing advanced technologies for space restrictive security applications. Its superior image quality and enhanced features provide the essential tools for contraband detection. The system offers a tunnel opening of 520mm (20.47 inches) wide by 320mm (12.6 inches) high to accommodate large mail parcels and standard checkpoint items.

The Rapiscan Model 526 is an x-ray security inspection system designed for customers requiring larger capacity screening inspections. The typical application for this model is for lobby mail screening, total building security and checked baggage screening. With a large tunnel opening of 950mm (37.4 inches) x 650mm (25.6 inches), this system is designed for a wide variety of security applications.
