May 31, 2003 NCL cancels Norway sailings NCL announced yesterday that a seventh crew member has died following the accident involving a boiler onboard the S/S Norway on Sunday, May 25. He was Ramon Villarais, an engine room stoker from Bulacan in the Philippines who had worked with NCL for eight years, always on the Norway. Villarais was 39 years old. NCL also announced that it has has cancelled the June 15 and June 22 sailings onboard the S/S Norway. It is currently contacting travel agents and passengers to notify them of the cancellation. Passengers will receive a full refund. The cruise line says it is fully cooperating with the U.S. Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board to understand the cause of the boiler room accident. Tell a friend:
