Keppel Singmarine gets orders
Keppel Singmarine (KSM), the specialized shipbuilding division of Keppel Offshore & Marine, will build two Anchor Handling Tug/ Supply (AHTS) vessels for CH Offshore Ltd, and two harbor tugs for Maju Maritime Pte Ltd.

The total value of the four vessels is approximately U.S.$24.5 million.

The two AHTS vessels totaling U.S. $19 million are expected to be delivered in August and October 2004 respectively, when they will be deployed to Asia and the Middle East for operations.

Goh Boon Kiat, Executive Director of KSM said, "In terms of cargo carrying capacity and bollard pull, the vessels will be of an optimal design.

"This particular design is extremely popular because of its versatility. It is suitable for use in a lot of offshore operations."

The two AHTS vessels will have bollard pull in excess of 60 tonnes. They will also be wider in breadth than standard AHTS vessels, at 16 meters.

Since 2002, KSM has been awarded contracts, including this latest award, to construct seven AHTS vessels of this series. Other clients include Hadi H. Al-Hammam Establishment from Saudi Arabia and Pacific Richfield Marine Pte Ltd, a Singapore-based customer.

Keppel Singmarine builds a wide range of small to medium-sized customised vessels including AHTS vessels, multipurpose support vessels and cable ships for a worldwide clientele. ISO 9001 accredited, it utilises leading-edge marine technologies in the development and construction of specialised vessels.

CH Offshore Ltd is a publicly listed subsidiary of Chuan Hup Holdings Limited, dealing mainly in support services for the offshore oil and gas exploration, development and production activities.

The two harbor tugs are scheduled to be delivered to Maju Maritime in 1st quarter 2004.
