DRBA plans two new ferries
The Delaware River and bay Authority has reportedly just budgeted $120 million for two new ferries for the Cape May--Lewes route. The bi-state agency's five-year capital budget includes $40 million of these costs while the remaining $80 million will likely be included in its next long-range spending plan.
Construction of the new vessels could start in 2008. The agency currently operates five vessels. The two new vessels, which would be larger and faster, could replace three of the existing vessels.
