Tidewater names boat for fallen soldier

Tidewater Inc. announced today the naming of an oil service supply ship in memory of 1st Lt. Jonathan Rozier and the contribution of $5000 to the Justin David Rozier Scholarship Fund for the benefit of Lt. Rozier's infant son.

Lt. Rozier, 22, was slain in Iraq on July 27 when his military vehicle was hit by rocket-propelled grenades. He is survived by his 22 year-old wife, Jessica, and their 9-month old son, Justin. He was assigned to B-Company, 270th Armor Battalion, 1st Armored Division.

The M/V Jonathan Rozier, an offshore supply vessel under construction at Bollinger Shipyards of Lockport, Louisiana, was specially designed for high speed, efficient performance, and large cargo capacity. When the ship is delivered in March 2004, a christening ceremony will be held to honor the memory of Lt. Rozier. The ship will service oil production platforms in Louisiana, Texas, and around the world. Three more sister vessels are currently under construction at Bollinger Shipyards with deliveries beginning in October 2003 and ending in May 2004.

Tidewater's contribution will be made to the Justin David Rozier Scholarship Fund. The fund was created by the friends of the Rozier family to provide for the future financial needs of Lt. Rozier's infant son. Tidewater's contribution will be added to amounts received from his family, friends, and the community.

Dean Taylor, Chairman, C.E.O. and President of Tidewater, commented that " Our nation is deeply indebted to the valiant young men like Jonathan Rozier who jeopardized their own personal safety, and ultimately gave their lives to preserve our nation's freedom."

Mr. Taylor also said "I am truly saddened by the loss suffered by the Rozier family. Lt. Rozier's deceased grandmother, Gwen Philips, was a valued employee at Tidewater's New Orleans headquarters for 24 years until she retired in 1995. Tidewater's actions are a small gesture in repayment of the large debt that our nation owes to those in our national services like Lt. Rozier who have lost their life while serving their country."

Contributions to the Justin David Rozier Scholarship Fund should be made by check and sent to the Justin David Rozier Scholarship Fund, c/o Tradition Bank, 1515 S. Grand Parkway, Katy, Texas 77494.

Tidewater Inc. owns and operates over 570 vessels, the world's largest fleet of vessels serving the global offshore energy industry.
