Liebertz appointed president, ABS Pacific
ABS has announced the appointment of James B. Liebertz as President, ABS Pacific, headquartered in Singapore.
Liebertz succeeds Walter Czerny who has retired after a long and distinguished career with ABS.
As Division president, Mr. Liebertz is responsible for ABS activities within Asia, Australasia and the Indian sub-continent, including the important shipbuilding centers of Japan, Korea and the Peoples Republic of China.
Most recently Liebertz held the position of Vice President, Northern Region, ABS Pacific, based in Yokohama. He will be succeeded in that position by Mark McGrath, formerly ABS Country Manager, South Korea.
Before joining ABS in 1995, Liebertz was Director of Planning and Commercial Activities for Texaco's Marine Department. He first worked in Asia in 1977 as a Marine Superintendent for Getty Oil, prior to that company being acquired by Texaco.
Liebertz is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and gained a MBA degree in finance from Rutgers University. He is licensed as a marine engineer by the U.S. Coast Guard and has been actively involved in many maritime organizations in both the United States and Asia.
