Nigel Gee designs include ONR's X-Craft

X-Craft designer acquired by BMT
Britain's Nigel Gee and Associates Ltd, specialist in the design of high speed, innovative mono and multi-hull vessels has been acquired by British Maritime Technology Ltd (BMT). BMT's U.S. units include BMT Scientific Marine Services, Inc, BMT Designers & Planners and Syntek Technologies Inc.

Founded in 1986 by Nigel Gee and John Bonafoux, Nigel Gee and Associates is the designer of a number of high speed and innovative vessels--including the X-Craft currently being built by Titan Corporation at a Washington State shipyard for the U.S. Office of Naval Research.

Roger Swann, Chief Executive of BMT, said: "I believe this acquisition will strengthen our capability in both the high speed shipping and defense sector. Nigel Gee and Associates Ltd is an extremely innovative design company and I am confident it will make a significant contribution to BMT."

Nigel Gee added: "We are delighted to have joined BMT. We have worked with several BMT group companies in recent years and believe we have a very great synergy with them. We believe our ability to continue to lead the high speed craft field is significantly enhanced by joining this group of companies."

Nigel Gee will remain as managing director and John Bonafoux as technical director. Roger Swann and Peter French, BMT operations director (Europe & the Far East), have joined the board as a director and chairman respectively.
