April 24 2003 Legend cleared after security sweep Yesterday the cruise liner, en route to Hilo, Hawaii from Ensenada, Mexico, was diverted after two notes containing threats were found in a ladies restroom. According to local media reports, the letters said lives would be lost if the ship touched U.S. soil. The ship was diverted to waters off Honolulu for boarding by federal and local investigators from Honolulu. The threat was "very non-specific it didn't articulate any means or methods by which the threat would be carried out," media reports quoted FBI agent Daniel Dzwilewski as saying yesterday. A multi-agency team of investigators from the Coast Guard, the FBI, the Honolulu Police Department, U.S. Customs and U.S. Border Protection is investigating the letters. |
