GENE TAYLOR (D.-MS) TO KEYNOTE GULF OFFSHORE 2001 Biloxi, MS, June 5 & 6 May 18, 2001 Icebreaker gets job in Mexico Built by Finnyards in 1993, Fennica is one of four multipurpose Finnish Maritime Administration vessels that serve as Baltic icebreakers in winter, in all ice conditions. In the open water season it is leased to Norway's DSND Søndenfjeldske ASA to serve as a multi-purpose offshore construction vessel. The vessel's primary offshore mission is laying flexible pipes and cable. Today DSND announced that, in line with its strategy of increasing activities in the Gulf of Mexico, Fennica has been awarded a 100 days contract in Mexico. The vessel will perform work related to repair on pipeline crossings for Pemex through Oceanografia SA. The value of the contract is approx NOK 50 million (about $5.5 million). The contracted dayrate is two times higher than the dayrate for a similar vessel last year and the profit margin is four times higher. . HOME
