Carnival may make bid for Princess
Britain's Sunday Telegraph says Carnival Corporation is prparing a counterbid for P&O Princess.

P&O Princess recently announced that it was planning to merge with Royal Caribbean. The Sunday Telegraph says that Carnival's Mickey Arison will not make a final decision on whether to bid for Princess until he has studied the Princess/RCI merger documents.

Meantime, says the Sunday Telegraph, Carnival has already retained UBS Warburg to prepare a counterbid. Carnival Corporation's Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer Howard Frank has scheduled a conference call with analysts for 10 a.m. (E.S.T.), Thursday, Dec. 20, to discuss the company's fourth quarter financial results which are expected to be released that morning. There are certain to be many questions on the possibility of an offer for Princess.
