On September 8, 2005, VT Halter Marine CEO Boyd E. "Butch" King talked to Marine Log editor John Snyder about his first reactions to getting back to shipbuilding after Hurricane Katrina.

At the helm of VT Halter Marine since January 2003, Butch King was previously a a senior associate with Booz Allen and Hamilton. But he also brings to the task of rebuilding VT Halter Marine, all the skills and experience gained in a successful 35-year career in the U.S. Army.

Its most recent expansion has been the construction of three 146 ft x 36 ft x 12 ft OSV's at Bollinger Shipyards
